What Was 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End' Season 1 About?
The main character is Frieren, an elven mage who possesses the gifts of longevity and eternal youth. After a ten-year quest, she returns home with her friends: the dwarf Eizen, the priest Heiter, and the squad leader Himmel. After defeating the Demon King, the team goes their separate ways.
Frieren embarks on a solo journey around the world, promising her friends that she will meet them again in a few years. However, during the fifty years she ultimately spends wandering, the other members of the squad have aged.
Shortly after their long-awaited reunion, Himmel dies. Only then does Frieren realize how short her friends' lives are and how little she knows about the human world.
To become closer to humans, she sets out on another quest to the north, where the castle of the defeated Demon King is located. This time, her companions are the sorceress Fern and the knight Stark.
The new adventures of Frieren, Fern, and Stark intersect with Frieren's memories of her previous expedition to the Demon King's castle.
At the end of the first season, Fern passes the difficult exam to become a mage. She is offered a position in the Magic Association, but decides to continue her quest to the North with her friends.
