Kyle Gallner and Haley Bennett lead Adam Rehmeier’s secretive new project.

Rehmeier has discreetly commenced production on his forthcoming feature, A Bobby Thing, presently filming in Cape Town, South Africa. Kyle Gallner, who delivered a sharply memorable performance in Dinner in America, returns to lead the cast.

Joining Gallner is Haley Bennett, an actress perpetually on the brink of wider recognition. The pair headline what is described as a low-profile, hush-hush project, with plot details carefully guarded.

Rehmeier has been steadily carving out a distinctive niche within the American independent scene, operating largely outside the mainstream industry with a unique voice. His latest film, the coming-of-age comedy Snack Shack, was an under-the-radar gem from last year. He has also completed another feature, Carolina Caroline, again starring Gallner and Samara Weaving, supported by Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Gries.

Bennett, fresh from the underappreciated Magazine Dreams and The Luckiest Man in America, has consistently impressed critics and audiences alike. Her standout role in 2019’s Swallow remains a highlight of her career.

While no release date for A Bobby Thing has been announced, this project bears all the hallmarks of becoming a future underground favourite. Rehmeier rarely makes a fuss — instead, his films tend to find their audience over time. Sometimes much later.
