From Mutant Leader to Mad Titan: Two Legends Eye MCU Returns in 'Avengers: Doomsday' — The Biggest Gift for Fans Like Me

Let’s cross our fingers!
I grew up watching James Marsden’s Cyclops get sidelined again and again — and now, it finally feels like justice is being served. With Avengers: Doomsday shaping up to be Marvel’s biggest gamble yet, Marsden is officially stepping back into the visor. And for once, it sounds like he’s getting the spotlight he always deserved.
"It’s been a blast," Marsden told Vanity Fair. "It’s been a nice little homecoming to a role that really put me on the map… And so to step back into that role was pretty special."
You can hear the love in his voice — and honestly, after all those years of being written off, it’s about time Cyclops stood front and center.
But wait — there’s more. Josh Brolin, the man behind the most iconic villain of the MCU, says he’d gladly return as Thanos if the Russos called.
"If they called me in London right now and said, 'Let’s do this,' I’d be like, 'I’ll be there tomorrow'," Brolin said. "I talk to Downey probably four to six times a year. I talk to the Russos probably four to six times a week."
So yes — while one was underused and the other went out in a blaze of glory, both Cyclops and Thanos are ready for more. And if Marvel’s smart, they’ll let them finish what they started — properly this time.
