From Oscar Nominations to Sci-Fi: Andrew Garfield Signs Up for 'Artificial' at Amazon MGM

Andrew Garfield has officially joined the cast of Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming feature film, Artificial, which is set to be released by Amazon MGM. Garfield will star alongside Yura Borisov, who gained recognition as the breakout star of Anora and was recently nominated for an Oscar. The film is described as a “comedic drama set within the world of artificial intelligence,” exploring themes related to technology and human interaction.

The screenplay for Artificial has been penned by Simon Rich, who will also serve as a producer. The project is being produced in collaboration with Heyday Films’ David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford, as well as Jennifer Fox.

This film marks a reunion for Garfield, Guadagnino, and Amazon MGM Studios, following their previous collaboration on the critically acclaimed After the Hunt, which stars Julia Roberts alongside Garfield and Ayo Edebiri. That film is scheduled for theatrical release on October 10.

This project comes at a busy time for Garfield. In addition to After the Hunt, he is involved in an adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree, alongside Claire Foy, Jessica Gunning, and Nicola Coughlan for Studiocanal. He has also been cast in Paul Greengrass’ thriller The Rage, produced by Focus Features, which explores the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 England.

Garfield’s previous credits include We Live in Time, Tick, Tick… Boom!, which earned him a Golden Globe Award, and Hacksaw Ridge, which garnered him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. He is represented by CAA, Gordon & French, ID and Slone, Offer, Weber & Dern.
