According to recent reports, the cast of James Gunn's Superman: Legacy could be revealed quite soon.

With the reboot of the DCU under James Gunn getting closer by the day, very little has been known about the upcoming projects aside from titles and vague plot summaries.

And of course, the question that fans are most interested in is who will star in the new movie about America's most famous superhero, Superman: Legacy.

Rumors have been circulating for quite some time now, many of which have been debunked by Gunn himself, but now there is a new update, this time from a more reliable source.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn recently arranged screen tests and assembled three pairs of actors and actresses to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

The filmmaker's choices were: Nicholas Hoult (who recently starred in Renfield) and Rachel Brosnahan, David Corenswet and Emma Mackey, and Tom Brittney and Phoebe Dynevor.

While the results remain unknown for now, as it is a difficult process, the final decision may be made this week, so it is quite possible that a public announcement will follow shortly thereafter.

Once the leads are chosen, the next stage of the casting process will come into play, including choosing the actor to play the hero's nemesis, Lex Luthor, with Alexander and Bill Skarsgard reportedly among the candidates.

While everyone has their own opinion on which of the three actors is best suited to play Superman (with some even saying none), the situation surrounding Lex seems a bit more interesting.

While Bill has already shone in villainous roles such as Pennywise (It) or Marquis de Gramont (John Wick: Chapter 4), some fans say that he feels a bit too young to play Luthor.

On the other hand, Alexander looks too "heroic," although he is also a great actor and could pull it off if he is chosen.

It has to be reiterated that all of the above are not official statements, just leaks, although this time the source seems to be more reliable, so there is a chance that they will be proven wrong.

If not, fans will have to wait a little longer to hear about the final casting decisions.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.
