The second season promises to be darker and more dynamic than the first.

The first season of Gachiakuta, the anime adaptation of Kei Urana's manga, concluded at the end of 2025. It quickly gained a loyal fan base, though it hasn't achieved the fame of Chainsaw Man or Jujutsu Kaisen.

And that's a shame. BONES Studio's project has all the makings of a cult classic: trash-punk aesthetics, a powerful social subtext, well-developed lore, and charming characters.

Here's what we know about the second season, when to expect it, and how the first chapter ended.

When Will 'Gachiakuta' Season 2 Be Released?

The final episode of the first season premiered on December 21, 2025. The creators announced a second season almost immediately, however, a precise release date has not yet been announced.

BONES Studio is handling the production, and they are known to have a tight schedule. So, the second season is optimistically expected no earlier than 2027.

What Will 'Gachiakuta' Season 2 Be About?

The second season will likely center on the confrontation between Rudo and the Angel, a mysterious being who can travel between the Sphere and the Ground.

The Angel's identity was revealed in the first season. Now, Amo, the only person who has ever interacted with the Angel directly, will play a key role in the story.

Additionally, Rudo's internal conflict will develop. While his primary goal in the first season was to return home and find his guardian's killers, he has learned more about the corrupted system of the Sphere and his motivations may change dramatically.

He may transform from a victim into an avenger, ready to destroy not only specific enemies, but also the very foundations of this world.

What Was 'Gachiakuta' Season 1 About?

The story takes place in a world divided into two parts. The elite inhabit the floating city of the Sphere and dump all their waste below. The Ground, the planet's surface, has been transformed into a gigantic garbage dump and is inhabited by monsters born from trash.

Rudo is an orphan who grew up in the slums of the Sphere. He was raised by an old man named Regto who was brutally murdered one day. Rather than investigating, the police accuse Rudo of the crime and throw him into the Pit.

Miraculously surviving, Rudo meets Enjin, the leader of the Cleaners, an organization that fights monsters on the Ground. There, Rudo discovers his ability as a Giver – he can release souls from reverently treated objects and harness their power.

His Jinki, as these items are called, are gloves given to him by Regto that hide the scars on his hands. Rudo joins the Cleaners, learns to fight, and dreams of returning to take revenge.

What Happened in the Finale of 'Gachiakuta' Season 1?

As it turned out, Rudo is a descendant of Canis Surebrec, the first owner of the Jinki from the Watchman series who could move freely between worlds.

The main traitor among the Cleaners is Tamsy – he attacked Amo, a mysterious girl who lives in a tower in the middle of the contaminated zone and can control people with scents.

Apparently, Tamsy was also behind Regto's murder and Rudo's exile. Amo, presumed dead, is alive but imprisoned in a dark cell.
