Epic fantasy fared even worse at the box office.

George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire may have given the world one of the best TV series of all time, but not all adaptations of the writer's works follow suit.

With the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and the third season of House of the Dragon in the works, Martin hasn't been wasting any time — no, he doesn't seem to be planning on finishing The Winds of Winter just yet, but he's been happy to oversee the new film based on his short story.

Despite Martin's highest praise for both the film and the director, the project failed miserably on literally every front — but a few months later it's back at the top of global streaming.

Into the Lost Lands Leads Streaming Platforms After Total Failure in Theaters

Although the film was released digitally almost immediately after it became clear that it would not achieve great success at the box office, only now have Hulu subscription owners really become interested in the new release — for example, yesterday Into the Lost Lands was the first line of the American chart and the second line of the world chart.

Based on the story of the same name by George Martin, the film tells the story of the witch Gray Alice (Milla Jovovich) and a wanderer named Boyce (Dave Bautista), who go in search of a werewolf, which Queen Melange can use to gain enormous power.

Into the Lost Lands collected less than $ 10 million at the global box office

Although the film boasts a stellar cast and even praise from George Martin himself, it still didn’t save it from being a total flop. Having hit screens in March of this year, the film only grossed about $6 million against a colossal $55 million budget.

Critics didn’t appreciate Into the Lost Lands either — the film currently holds so-so ratings of 24% and 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was mostly criticized for thoughtlessly squandering the potentially profitable plot of Martin’s story.
