The drop of the new Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire trailer could've been the best news ever for the fans of the supernatural hunters, but instead, the Internet had to brace itself for a huge disappointment.
To say the least, Reddit expects literally nothing good from this movie.
With two recent games that flopped, the Ghostbusters franchise is not doing so well. One was a decent co-op game that came out in the same month as the famous Scorn, and the other was a metaverse game that no one played. So Frozen Empire is going to be a make-or-break for the franchise.
Firstly, it’s the fifth film in the franchise. It’s also the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which came out in 2021. Afterlife was a success at the box office. It made over $200 million opposed to a modest $75 million budget.
Though it was one of the first films to release after COVID, but the original movie came out 40 years ago! It was a huge hit in its time, but nowadays, the fandom is almost dead.
Secondly, the new movie based on the trailer seems more like a horror, rather than a horror comedy. The original movie has consistently ranked at the top of the comedy charts, so fans are skeptical about the decision to throw out the comedy aspect.

And finally, it will come out approximately at the same time as another giant of the industry, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Judging by the audience's first impression, they like the second movie a lot better so far.
