‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 4 Needs to Fix This Cringey Casting Mistake

This tiny mistake can make even a show like Ginny & Georgia feel unrealistic. Next season, they need to be more careful.
The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived! Ginny & Georgia Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix, bringing more drama than ever before. Yet the new installment is not picture-perfect.
The main issue: the actors portraying the younger versions of several characters were extremely miscast.
‘Ginny & Georgia’ Casting Decision Failed Season 3 Immersion
That's right. The same show that perfectly cast Nikki Roumel as young Georgia (they are practically twins) now has a huge problem: miscasting major characters as young Ginny and Austin.
Why it matters: the immersion of the show suffers greatly from such seemingly minor mistakes. The actors who played young Ginny and Austin looked the same age as their older versions. Besides, many pointed out that young Ginny looked nothing like Antonia Gentry, who plays grown-up Ginny in the show.
We're not saying this ruins the entire show (far from it!). But when you're dealing with flashbacks that are crucial to the story, casting choices need to be on point.
Fans Have Spoken: ‘Ginny & Georgia’ Season 3 Failed Young Ginny & Austin
“Y’all I love this show but the new child actors for the flashbacks. Whoever was the casting director this season needs to get out Immediately like yesterday,” Redditor Smart_Frosting9846 wrote.
“I couldn’t get into these scenes at all because of the distracting differences. Georgia actress is still great though!” another fan, Ok-Muffin-4480 on Reddit pointed out.
“I’m only on episode 2 and so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Everyone kind of feels off too this season. I can’t explain it,” Redditor NancyB517 shared.
How Can 'Ginny & Georgia’ Season 4 Fix This Problem?
The good news: this is totally fixable for future seasons. All the production team needs to do is pay a bit more attention to age-appropriate casting and physical resemblance when choosing actors for younger versions of the characters.
For now, all we can do is wait and hope for better decisions in the future. Speaking of which, click here to learn more about Season 4.
