Glee is the most surreal show that feels like a fever dream all these years later, and yet fans still have pretty strong opinions about it.

Here are six unpopular opinions on Glee ( according to Reddit).

1. Kurt’s Singing Voice Isn’t for Everyone

Kurt Hummel is a beloved character among fans, but now we are ready to have a conversation about his singing voice. Chris Colfer had a few great musical numbers on Glee, but most of them, especially in later seasons, just felt forced. The actor’s voice changed over the years, but the creators didn’t allow the character’s voice to evolve with it, and it showed.

2. Finn Shouldn’t Have Been the Male Lead

Cory Monteith’s Finn had a lovely singing voice and some sick dance moves, but they were nowhere near those of the other male members. Blaine, Artie, Sam, and even Puck were much better singers with a wider range. Finn was basically the lead because Rachel wanted someone to “keep up” with her, and she fancied Finn.

3. Glee’s Costumes Got Progressively Worse

As the show’s popularity grew, its budget grew with it. Unfortunately, that meant that Glee could afford more designer clothes, which may have looked nicer, but also took away each character’s sense of style. In season 1, the costumes are extremely appropriate for each character, and we wish they had stayed that way.

4. Will Schuester Isn’t the Show’s Villain

In the wake of cancel culture, Mr. Schuester got to be the baddest of the bad real quick. However, Glee was always satire exaggerated to the maximum, and all characters did horrible and ridiculous things. The fact that most of them were teenagers at the time shouldn’t give them a free pass, so Mr. Schuester was really just up with the times and all the chaos.

5. Klaine and Brittana Were Pretty Toxic

Most Glee fans agree that Kurt and Blaine are couple goals, and the same thing is often said about Santana and Brittany. When you rewatch the show during your adult years, you might realize something upsetting – both couples were actually pretty toxic and even abusive toward each other. A sad reality but reality nonetheless.

6. Rachel’s Grief Was Not Properly Shown

Losing Finn, the only guy she ever loved, was tough on Rachel – so tough, in fact, that she even quit Funny Girl, but that’s not made obvious enough in the series. Rachel was grieving and hurting while trying to make her Broadway debut. That would take a toll on anyone, but especially on this drama queen.
