Glen Powell's Ex Gigi Paris Finally Opens up About 'Anyone But You' Drama: "I Was Shattered"
Anyone But You became one of the most successful rom-coms of recent years thanks to a PR campaign that ultimately led to Glen Powell and Gigi Paris' breakup. Two years later, Gigi is sharing her side of the story.

'Anyone But You' Powell & Sweeney Affair Rumors Was a PR Campaign
Interest in Anyone But You was heightened by rumors that the lead actors, Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, were in a relationship. As it turns out, this was a successful PR move that brought the project box-office success.
In an interview with The New York Times, Powell admitted that he and Sweeney played along with the rumors to fuel audience interest:
“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry. That's people wanting what's on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit – and it worked wonderfully.”
Gigi Paris Finally Shares Her Side of the Story
However, such a PR campaign cost Powell his real relationship with Gigi Paris, whom he dated for more than three years. Recently, Gigi commented on her breakup with the actor on the Too Much podcast:
“I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? [...]' Or stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm actually not okay with this, and I'm walking away.' So that's what I decided to do ... I was shattered.”
Paris added that all she wanted was respect. She wanted her loved one to stop embarrassing her in public and to say, at least once, that he would never cheat on his girlfriend. But this did not happen.
The Actor Asked Gigi Not to Visit Him on the 'Anyone But You' Set – And It Was Over
Gigi also shared that the last straw came when the actor called her and told her not to visit him on the set of Anyone But You:
“And he called and said, the producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit ... And that's when I hung up. [...] I think that's where I just also fell out of love.”
Glen Powell and Gigi Paris began dating in 2020 and broke up in early 2023. Paris revealed that she hopes Powell and Sweeney become a couple because then this PR campaign would be worth it.
