Perfect timing for this viral beverage to boost your immune system before the spring comes.

It’s not something uncommon when a long-forgotten thing becomes extremely popular again years later, and golden milk might be one of the best examples of it.

Coming all the way from India, the ancient beverage with a pretty specific taste turned into a global phenomenon on TikTok recently, promising to keep its fans warm during tough winter days. In case you’ve always wondered what spiced milk tastes like, this recipe may become very handy for you.

Ingredients (12 portions): 8 tablespoons of turmeric, 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar, 4 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 4 teaspoons of ground ginger, 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper, 1 tsp of cardamon, 0.5 tsp of ground cloves, 0.5 tsp of nutmeg, 0.5 tsp of cayenne pepper.

Mix all dry ingredients until smooth to get a balanced flavor. Transfer the mixture to a dry jar with an airtight lid: this will keep the spices fresh for up to two months.

Heat 250 ml of milk (or plant-based alternative) to just below boiling point, remove from the heat, and stir in 1 teaspoon of the mixture. The drink can be served hot or chilled.

Making the mixture in advance allows you to quickly prepare the drink without wasting time measuring out each spice separately.

The golden milk can also be prepared with cow's milk or plant-based alternatives like coconut, nut, or soy milk. Each option changes the taste in its own way: coconut adds creaminess, almond milk has a sweet note, and soy milk offers a more neutral flavor.

Those who want to emphasize the spices are better off using light plant-based bases, while those who prefer a rich flavor will find milk with a higher fat content more appealing.
