If you repeat the same joke over and over again, chances are it's not as funny anymore.

Ever since the internet saw Henry Cavill in The Witcher 's white wig, everyone has been going crazy over the idea of him playing one of the Targaryens.

This belief became even stronger after the news about the production of House Of The Dragon broke. Surely, after all that speculation, Cavill would have gotten a role?

As it turned out, he was again nowhere to be seen among the cast.

Third time might be the charm, fans think, and Henry Cavill is being considered for another Targaryen role. This time for another Game of Thrones story that would take place even earlier than House of the Dragon.

Aegon I Targaryen, commonly known as Aegon the Conqueror, is described as a strong fighter and a good ruler, a very charismatic leader, which are all traits that Cavill could portray on screen.

So it's no wonder that the demand has never waned.

However, with each adaptation, fans seem to get more and more tired of this suggestion: it's just like a joke that gets old and unfunny from being repeated too many times over the years.

Audiences on both Reddit and Twitter have two very strong opinions about Cavill, and from what it looks like today, the more one side pushes the idea, the more opposed they become.

Many names have been thrown around to try and overcome the Henry Cavill obsession that half of the fandom seems to have.

Among them are Mads Mikkelsen, Joseph Morgan, Alexander Skarsgård, and Travis Fimmel.

Some fans even go so far as to jokingly re-submit Matt Smith, since he did such a good job portraying Daemon Targaryen and fits the Targ's unconventional beauty standards much better.

It may be all fun and games for now, but if there's a chance that Henry Cavill will be cast as Aegon the Conqueror, the production may face a backlash for such a decision.

If fans are already tired of talking about it and suggesting that Reddit mods remove such posts because there are just too many of them, imagine what would happen if this fancast becomes a reality?

With no confirmed news on the production of this new show, fans can safely focus their attention on the already-released Game of Thrones and season 1 of House Of The Dragon for now.

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes updates and news as the show moves into production!
