This man just needed the right person.

Summary:

  • Grey's Anatomy is an ABC medical procedural drama that has been on the air for 19 seasons.
  • Although there are many questionable characters, Owen Hunt tends to be the most hated by the fandom.
  • Viewers believe that his compatible love match was already on the show, but never happened.

It would not be completely true to say that everyone loves Grey's Anatomy just for the great medical cases. Especially when they have been confirmed multiple times by multiple medical professionals to be not that well-researched and true to life.

What is true to life, however, is the amount of interpersonal drama that occurs between people who are kept so close together in a work environment. Is this how it should be? Any HR professional will tell you it shouldn't. In reality, however, feelings are often much stronger than rules, and the writers of Grey's Anatomy do a great job of portraying that.

From cute friendships to angry rivalries, from blossoming romances to loud breakups, this show has it all. And most of the time, viewers feel compassion for the characters they're watching. There's only one person Grey's Anatomy fans tend to blame for every single conflict they're involved in.

But even Owen Hunt had his chance at happiness.

Owen Hunt And Callie Torres' Relationship

Throughout the series, Owen Hunt's romances were always the most annoying part of his storylines, as he was always inconsistent with the women he was with, and never seemed to see them as life partners. Instead, he was drawn to the idea of having a family and children just for the sake of it, not because he truly cared about his partners.

Callie Torres, however, was the character who could easily change that. With her warmth and openness to everyone and everything, she was a perfect match for his rather closed and distant personality.

Every interaction these two had on screen was filled with great chemistry, so it was no surprise to viewers when they came together in an alternate reality in the episode "If/Then" (S8E13). And while Meredith's dream may not be the most reliable source of information, the couple did look happy.

It's a good thing they ended up having a pretty sweet friendship, with her even encouraging him not to give up on Cristina, but it certainly wasn't what he needed as a character. And it was certainly not what any of us as viewers wanted, considering how badly things ended.

If you are feeling nostalgic and want to re-watch the golden seasons of Grey's Anatomy, you can stream the show on Hulu or Netflix.
