Guy Ritchie’s $148 Million Fantasy Flop Is Now Free to Stream
It was doing fine with viewers though, and now might get itself a second chance.
Guy Ritchie has been long known as a master of epic thrillers and action-adventure stories, but there was a time when he opted for turning to the fantasy genre, and that didn’t end well. The movie in question did look like a promising take on a famous legend, though it turned out to be a big flop that even star-studded cast couldn’t save.
However, the film didn’t seem to be a total disaster to its viewers, and now the flick has even more chances to get everyone’s attention once again since it’s just landed on a free streaming’s platform.
You Can Now Watch King Arthur: Legend of the Sword on Tubi
The streaming service that doesn’t demand any fee for watching movies and shows on its platform, Tubi is gradually becoming a bigger player among the world’s streaming platforms and just got itself Guy Ritchie’s epic fantasy film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Starring Charlie Hunnam, Aidan Gillen, and Jude Law, the movie follows future King Arthur who, having lost his father at a young age, sees his uncle Vortigern illegally taking over full control and the crown.
Realizing that he was deprived of his birthright, Arthur grows up coming up with a plan to avenge his father’s murder and, when he suddenly discovers his ability to pull the Excalibur sword from stone, Arthur embarks on a mission to regain justice and become a good leader for his folk.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Flopped with Critics, but Not With Viewers
Released back in 2017, the movie performed quite badly in theatres, earning around $148 million against the initial budget of $175 million, which ultimately resulted in the production team’s losses of more than $150 million.
Additionally, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword wasn’t a critical darling either since only 31% of all the reviews are positive, and that number is based on a whopping 275 reviews.
Still, the film found love among the audiences who gave it a pretty solid score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes; the movie’s recent release on Tubi on February 1 might also soon bring some good news for its viewership.
