Are you ready for some unexpected fan favorites?

The Harry Potter movie franchise has been widely praised by fans for its impeccable casting. Pretty much every character was translated to screen in a manner that not only fit their book personas but also enriched them.

However, despite the majority of characters enjoying spot-on casting, there is one unexpected fan favorite, and it is... Uncle Vernon Dursley.

Portrayed by late Richard Griffiths, who passed away in 2013, Uncle Vernon turned out to look exactly like fans imagined him when reading the books.

"The whole Dursley family was spot-on. When they were using lines direct the from the earlier books chef's kiss lol. I always see/hear them in my head on re-reads now," Redditor crosscrackle said.

Among other fan favorite casting decisions are Professor McGonagall (portrayed by Maggy Smith), as well as Professor Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), although fans have starkly different opinions on the two characters.

"I've seen fanworks with other Snapes and McGonagalls and they have done a fantastic job to the point I can see other people playing them, but when it comes to Umbridge, Imelda is the only one that comes to mind immediately. And her little evil laugh that makes me want to strangle the woman," Redditor Icy_Kangaroo7482 admitted.

Looks like the Harry Potter movies' creators did a great job when it came to casting their villains — or at least anti-heroes who are generally disliked by the fandom.

However, we love to hate those characters — and actors who brought them to screens definitely deserve a nod for that.
