It's tough to be Harry Styles' darling… but don't worry.

The extent of online abuse that Olivia Wilde, Harry Styles ' girlfriend, appeared to have faced is so big that the singer himself had to speak out about it in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

Commenting on how the Internet toxicity affects him and the people closest to him, Styles said that Twitter is nothing short of "a shitstorm of people trying to be awful to people".

"That obviously doesn't make me feel good," Styles acknowledged when speaking to the magazine. "It's obviously a difficult feeling to feel like being close to me means you're at the ransom of a corner of Twitter or something."

According to him, he "just wanted to sing". Sometimes when he addresses some of his fans' concerns or hate, the response ends up drawing even more criticism than the initial reason, and Styles outlines that he "didn't want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that."

Styles and Wilde have been in a relationship ever since she cast him in the movie 'Don't Worry Darling', but the singer carefully clarifies that he doesn't think he has "publicly been with anyone" when addressing fans' questions about his intimate life.

Paparazzi caught the two holding hands at his manager and close friend Jeffrey Azoff's wedding in January 2021. They never directly made their relationship official, but Rolling Stone names Wilde his girlfriend. So does Twitter; and not every single one of Styles' fans loves Wilde. She has faced a wave of online hate, with some people taking issue with the way the relationship started, and others even having a problem with Styles allegedly "queerbaiting" in his music while only publicly dating women.
