HBO's Best Comedy TV Series Just Returned With Season 4 & Already Received 100% on RT

What Is The Righteous Gemstones About?
The Gemstones are the perfect family from the church brochure: Father Eli, two sons, Jesse and Kelvin, and daughter Judy have dedicated their lives to serving and spreading the Word of God.
They preach on their own TV show, raise money, and sell tons of videos and literature.
After another crusade in China, during which the Gemstones baptized five thousand people, unknown people begin to blackmail Jesse with a video of him using cocaine. Fearing that the Gemstone empire may collapse, Jesse asks Judy and Kelvin for help.
The Righteous Gemstones May Seem Slow at First, but the Show Gradually Picks up a Wild Pace
At first, the series seems like a long-winded sketch – yes, the idea of thieving preachers seems funny, but you constantly doubt that there is enough material for several seasons.
But the pace gets faster, and the jokes get funnier. In addition, the show gradually shifts the focus from Jesse to other family members and their problems: Kelvin lives with a former Satanist, Judy tries to earn her father's respect, and Eli himself is sad about the death of his wife.
One of The Righteous Gemstones' Greatest Assets Is Its Charismatic Cast
The head of the family, Eli, is played by John Goodman, who needs no introduction. He is both menacing as the patriarch, and touching as a widower who still misses his wife.
His three children are also played by excellent actors. The eldest son, Jesse, is portrayed by Danny McBride – a man with funny gray sideburns and a family of three of his own.
Daughter Judy – unfairly deprived of her father's attention – is played by Edi Patterson. And finally, the youngest son, Kelvin, played by Adam DeVine, is a silly and arrogant man with a silly mohawk.
The star of the show is Walton Goggins, who you may remember from The Hateful Eight and the third season of The White Lotus. He plays Baby Billy Freeman, the brother of Eli Gemstone's late wife.
