What Do Fans Think of the New Harry Potter Cast?
Not everyone in the cast is news to the Harry Potter fandom. We have already known that John Lithgow was set to portray Dumbledore, and the drama around the now-official Snape casting has been ongoing for quite a while.
Naturally, the reboot cast has sparked some skepticism among fans, but it’s safe to say that they are rather excited about the talent choice.
“Gonna be hard to replace the Hagrid and [McGonagall] we grew up with, two of the most perfect castings. But I’m more excited than I thought I’d be hearing Nick Frost as Hagrid. He’s got big shoes to fill (heh) but I’m down,” Redditor SagesLament said.
Some fans are particularly happy to see Whitehouse cast as Filch.
“Just need Harry Enfield to be Peeves to complete the double act,” Redditor ConfectionHelpful471 joked, referring to the cast of Harry & Paul.
Others, however, cannot let go of the sentiment that has been with HBO’s new adaptation from the beginning, which is “why even reboot Harry Potter when the Wizarding World has other storylines to adapt for screen?”.
“There is such great material to make prequel shows over doing this pointless cash waster. First Wizarding War against Voldemort, founding of Hogwarts, war against Gwindlewald, a sports franchise show with Quidditch. There, that's four shows right there!” said Redditor Nosfonader8765.
