"He Doesn't Give a Damn About the Audience": Hugh Laurie Publicly Disavows 'House' and its 14,000,000 Fans

It came out in the style of a sarcastic doctor, but isn't it too much? Let's figure it out.
Well, fans of good old Gregory House, you'll have to accept it: Hugh Laurie has finally left his cane in the corner and isn't going to return to it. What's more, he doesn't even want to hear about his most iconic character.
The popular podcast The Checkup with Doctor Mike, which has more than 14 million subscribers, gave a reason for another jab of sarcasm. The host decided to lure Laurie to the recording - they say, let's discuss the iconic episodes, remember the caustic jokes, warm up the nostalgia. But he received an answer that sounds like a quote from House himself:
"He frankly doesn't care about the audience or about the show being repeated."
This was revealed by Doctor Mike himself in a conversation with Noah Wyle. According to the host, Laurie's agents initially reacted happily: they say, great idea, let's get in touch. But the actor himself quickly cut off all enthusiasm. Without beating around the bush. Without feigned politeness. Classic House, just out of frame.
And really, what could be more logical? Laurie played a man who literally doesn't care about anything for so many years - and now he lives like that himself. He never gets nostalgic, doesn't try to profit from memories and doesn't want to give fans another shot of retro bliss, which, let's be honest, few people don't dream of.
House M.D. retired beautifully and correctly: he literally ran away from everything that was eating him up. But viewers and the media still want to drag him back - at least in the form of interviews, at least in the "react" podcast. And Laurie is absolutely within his rights to remind: House did his job, House can rest. Unlike us, he really isn't interested in being a cynical doctor again. Let it be so - at least it means that Gregory House remained honest not only on screen, but also in life.
