Heartstopper Season 4 Might Happen After All: Here’s All We Know
A new comment from the creator sparks hope in the Heartstopper fandom, even though the show has not been officially renewed yet.
The modern TV industry is doing a great job of covering the topics that used to be sort of a no-no for a long time, but are now being explored in many shows, more or less. Of course, there are still the series that are mainly for entertainment, but this Alice Oseman creation is definitely so much more than that.
Of course we are talking about Heartstopper, a comic book series that has been adapted into a Netflix show in 2022. The story follows two teenagers, Charlie and Nick, whose unlikely friendship turned out to be so much more for both of them.
When we first meet Charlie, he is a gay teenager who is aware of his sexuality but confused because he is trapped in an abusive relationship with a closeted high school boy Ben. One day he realizes that he has a crush on Nick, but his friends laugh kindly at him, saying that the guy is straight and they have no chance.
Everything changes when Nick sort of rescues Charlie from Ben. The two of them become friends, and Charlie becomes more than sure that Nick is his soulmate.
Is Heartstopper Season 4 Happening?
The 100%-rated season 3 of Heartstopper didn't offer a definitive end to the story, which just means there are so many places it can go from where it left off. Although Netflix has yet to renew Heartstopper, season 4 seems like a no-brainer. And based on what creator Alice Oseman has said about it, there is a chance that season 4 might actually happen.
During the Waterstones Children’s Book Festival where she talked to fellow author William Hussey, she said there are so many people, including her, who are working behind the scenes to get the show's renewal.
“We’re feeling optimistic, we’re feeling hopeful, and hopefully we’ll be able to share some news about that sometime soon. Fingers crossed, ” she said.
All three seasons of Heartstopper are available to stream on Netflix.
Why Heartstopper Is Worth Watching?
While the romance story unfolds between Charlie and Nick, and several other main characters from their friend group, the show highlights many more serious issues, such as mental health struggles, questions of self-importance and self-discovery, relationships in society and between family members, all the confusing stuff that every teenager faces during those troubled years.
“Personally, it is one of my favorite shows ever. I’d also say the first episode is the weakest, so if you’re on the fence after one keep watching. Really well developed characters, wholesome with real issues that don’t feel overdramatized; it’s just a nice charming show,” Redditor 1of9Heathens said.
