Helluva Boss has left fans with a long wait and one question the show won't answer: what exactly are Stolas and Blitzø to each other now?

Vivienne Medrano's adult animated series about a small firm of imp assassins in Hell returned on October 14, and this time new episodes landed on Prime Video before YouTube. Season 3 runs 15 episodes, split in two. Part 1, seven episodes, ended on October 28. Part 2, the remaining eight, is set for 2027. Brandon Rogers voices Blitzø, the firm's boss, and Stolas is the demon prince he has spent two seasons failing to define a relationship with.

How season 3 got them here

Season 2 ended with the two of them closer than ever. Season 3 starts by pulling them apart, then can't quite let go:

  • Episode 1, "Turtle Emoji" — Stolas, stripped of his title and power, tells Blitzø he isn't ready for a relationship.
  • Episode 3, "Gimpy Gimpy" — Blitzø spends a week crossing Australia's deserts to find a rare plant to cheer Stolas up. He comes back to find Stolas getting ready for a date with someone else, smashes the plant's jar and falls apart. They end the episode estranged, as partners and as friends.
  • Episode 4, "A Trial of Errors" — after a fight, Blitzø apologizes. Stolas admits he wants to be with him but feels guilty because of his daughter. Blitzø says he doesn't want a world without Stolas and still wants to try. They hug.
  • Episode 5 — Stolas's belongings are being auctioned off, including his mother's locket, so Blitzø helps him plan to steal it. The heist fails. Prince Vassago buys the locket, gives it to Stolas and invites him to dinner. Stolas says yes. Blitzø keeps his feelings to himself.

That last episode is where the new problem moves in, and his name is Vassago.

What happens in the finale

Episode 7, "YES/NO," splits them up for the day, and both of them come back with news. Only one of them shares it.

Stolas gets to see his daughter, Via. Vassago has offered to mentor her, which gets Stolas in the room. He shows her magic she can't copy yet, sings for her and gives her his mother's locket, the one Vassago bought back for him, with a promise to stand by her. Father and daughter start to rebuild.

Blitzø's day goes the other way. His sister, Barbie, wants a job with him, argues with Loona, and heads out on a mission in the human world. Blitzø follows and runs into Striker, the assassin he has been clashing with since season 1. Blitzø tells Striker he has no time for revenge and wants to make things right with his family. Barbie backs him up, then switches sides and asks Striker about a partnership and how much it pays. She leaves with Striker, and Blitzø is left alone.

Blitzø lost his sister to Striker in a single afternoon. When Stolas asks how his day went, he calls it "amazing."

That's the last scene. Stolas comes back thrilled about Via and asks about Blitzø's day. Blitzø says it was amazing because he got to go on a mission, and lights a cigarette.

So is it over?

Not officially. They haven't put a label back on it, but they haven't split for good either, and Part 1 ends with them still in each other's lives. What it also ends on is a lot left unsaid:

  • Blitzø hasn't told Stolas about Striker, or about Barbie.
  • Vassago has bought Stolas's locket back, asked him to dinner and taken on his daughter as a student.
  • Blitzø has been hiding how he feels about Vassago since episode 5.

Rogers hinted at this direction before the season, at the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel in 2025. What Blitzø feels for Stolas, he said, "is starting to be more revealed, maybe even to himself," and added that "he didn't feel like he was worth certain things" he really wants.

Part 2 has eight episodes to sort it out.
