The Witcher star Henry Cavill has made a confession – he's actually made a lot of them recently – that he was watching Netflix's award-winning Arcane series with his girlfriend Natalie Viscuso non-stop.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1's Ali Plumb the Geralt of Rivia actor said he was totally absorbed by the show based on the League of Legends battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games.

"I couldn't stop watching it, and it got really late, and Natalie was like 'Right, we should probably go to bed,' and I was like 'No, no, no, no, no, nope, gotta keep on watching.' And she went 'Yeah, okay, I'm with you, we should definitely keep on watching.' It's amazing," he said.

It was true binge-watching as they simply could not stop. The funny thing is that Ali Plumb is the one who actually gave Cavill, an avid gamer, a tipoff about the Arcane show.

"I'm very thankful that you introduced me to that, because I may have missed it otherwise I'm so glad you told me, because when you said it, I went home immediately, and I was like 'Right, Natalie, I was told by this guy at work that I should watch Arcane.' And she was like, 'Oh, I've heard some pretty good things about it."

Plumb and Cavil first spoke about Arcane during the 2021 interview. Back then the film critic asked the Superman actor whether he watched the show and the latter said he did not.

Following this interview, MTV's Josh Horowitz tweeted last December that he spent some time with Cavill talking about films and other stuff and it was Cavill who told him he should watch Arcane!

"Spent some time with Mr. Cavill last week. We exchanged a bunch of geeky tv/film recommendations. He ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommended ARCANE. So methinks your recommendation worked, Ali!" the tweet read.

Netflix 's Arcane follows the adventure of sisters Jinx (Ella Purnell) and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) in a fantasy steampunk world of the cities of Piltover and Zaun where unrest stirs as inventors and thieves, politicians and criminals fight the constraints of a society torn apart.

While video game adaptations as a rule do not perform well due to various reasons – angry fans, poor quality animation and direction to name a few – Arcane seems to have achieved the impossible. It has become Netflix' first animated series to win an Emmy for animation. The show brought the network four awards in 2022, including the Outstanding Animated Program prize.

You can watch Arcane Season 1 on Netflix. The series has been renewed for Season 2 and its production should have begun last November. The release date has not yet been announced.
