HIMYM: Even Years Later, Victoria Knew Ted And Robin Better Than They Knew Themselves

Robin and Barney’s wedding, perhaps the most important event in How I Met Your Mother, had everyone on edge. Barney was panicking because of his “free spirit.” Robin was panicking because she wasn’t sure she’d made the right choice. Ted was being thrown between the states of a manic groomsman and a depressed ex.

And above them all, there was Victoria — Ted’s admittedly best ex, who wasn’t involved in the wedding rush and still knew exactly how Ted and Robin worked.

Ted Lost His Mind Trying To Find Robin’s Locket

Before the wedding, Robin admits that she’d love to wear her favorite locket that, unfortunately, was lost years ago. Her groom Barney disregards the notion, and it’s fair: they’re organizing a wedding in a day or two and can’t risk everything by trying to locate a piece of jewelry that had gone missing before they even got together.

But good old Ted, Barney’s groomsman and Robin’s friend who’s still secretly in love with her, gets obsessed over the idea of finding her locket. Ted’s hope is that if he brings the locket back, Robin will see just how much better he is than Barney and will change her mind, so he gives his all to the desperate search of the lost trinket.

Victoria Was On Point About Ted’s Locket Search

The search for Robin’s locket eventually leads Ted to Victoria, his ex-girlfriend from Germany. Eager to prove his worth to his best friend’s bride (which sounds horribly wrong because it is), he calls Victoria and begs her to send him the locket. The woman demands an explanation first and understands everything from Ted’s story.

After hearing Ted out, Victoria asks him whether he expects Robin to “ditch her own wedding and run off with him,” and she already knows the answer. Ted’s ex is on point with her assumption: not only is that exactly what Ted is hoping for, it’s also Robin’s exact reaction when she finds out it was Ted who recovered the locket!

“Shouldn’t I be with the guy who finds me my locket?” Robin asks Ted. By that point, Ted’s already over his dream of breaking up his friends’ wedding, though, and he ensures Robin she should marry Barney — but Victoria was still absolutely correct.
