Last year’s season 2 has been a pretty big disappointment for House of the Dragon’s fans, but things do look more promising this time around after Steve Toussaint’s recent comments.

House of the Dragon might not be back to the screens until next year, but at least its fans can no longer expect the Targaryens’ war to get delayed even more.

House of the Dragon’s creators hinted that some major events were left out of the season due to HBO’s decision to cut the series’ installments to 8 episodes instead of 10.

However, this also signalled something exciting for those hoping for House of the Dragon’s season 3, and one of the leads might have confirmed it.

It’s now pretty clear that after a very uneventful second season House of the Dragon will have to include way more in the upcoming new instalment, which means the show’s production team is currently working at their fullest to unfold the long-awaited war.

The show’s strategy change has also been addressed by Corlys Velarion’s actor Steve Toussaint who has already offered some praise for House of the Dragon’s season 3.

“No spoilers, but what we have planned for this season is huge. There are some things that I have been told that I’ve never done on television before. It’s amazing! We were walking around the set just a couple of days ago, discussing the details on the paintings and the carvings on the columns. It’s truly amazing. I’m constantly amazed at the crafts people who work on the show,” Toussaint revealed in a recent interview with Awards Radar.

Steve Toussaint Says He Didn’t Read George Martin’s “Fire & Blood” on Purpose

The actor, just like many of those portraying characters from other source materials on TV, wasn’t eager to learn more about what Corlys is like in George Martin’s prequel novel just because he would rather stick to the vision that the show’s creators had.

“George R.R. Martin was kind enough to send a few of us signed copies of the book. I had decided early on that I wouldn’t read the book because there’s the book and there’s the television series. They can be two different entities. The last thing I wanted to do was read something in the book that Miguel and Ryan, at the time, decided that it wasn’t cinematic. My job is to try my hardest to portray the screen version that they had written. I’ll probably read the book when we finish this thing”, Toussaint added.

When Is ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 Premiering?

The show’s next instalment is expected to air on Max sometime in 2026.
