It seems that the Criminal Minds scandal was a little too much for the actor to handle.

Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson was fired from Criminal Minds after his behavior crossed the line of decency during season 12 filming.

Gibson reportedly had numerous problems with co-star Shemar Moore, with whom he often argued, and co-stars claimed that his violent mood swings on set became permanent and interfered with his work.

Gibson also had run-ins with the law, including an arrest for drunk driving; after paying a fine, the actor was forced to attend alcohol education classes.

What's more, in 2010, Gibson pushed an assistant director on the set of the fifth season, after which he attended anger management classes.

In 2016, the actor was accused of punching co-executive producer Virgil Williams after a heated argument over the script.

Gibson was initially suspended from two episodes of the show following the incident, while some sources reported that Williams was actually the aggressor.

Gibson was fired from the show in August 2016. Even after being fired from Criminal Minds, Thomas expressed regret about how things turned out, as he spent twelve years on the show and treated his colleagues with respect.

According to him, he did not want to fight Williams and after the conflict apologized to Virgil for his rude words.

Although his removal from the show clearly took a heavy toll on the actor, he looked at his career positively, even though realizing that his reputation had been damaged by the incident.

"Maybe I'll do a comedy, or a play, or direct, or produce. My pride and reputation are hurt, but in the end I know the good work is what people will remember. I just need more opportunities to do good work and be a good guy," Gibson shared in her interview with People Magazine.

However, the actor's career did not turn out the way he expected. After being fired from Criminal Minds, Thomas Gibson only starred in one movie called Shadow Wolves, which received only 30% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie tells the story of an NSA agent, played by Gibson, who joins an elite group of Native American trackers, called the Shadow Wolves, on missions of justice in the US and abroad.

Many fans still consider the actor's firing to be too harsh a punishment and hope for his return in the reboot Criminal Minds: Evolution. However, given his controversial past, it is unlikely that he will appear on the show.
