How Does Andor Fit in Star Wars Universe, Explained

Andor's story will end after Season 2 premieres tonight on Disney+. We're here to remind you exactly where Andor fits in the Star Wars timeline before the big release.
Probably still excited about the upcoming Star Wars projects announced just several days ago, the franchise’s fans are about to have a somewhat bittersweet week, especially those who are not ready for Andor to be over so soon.
Starring Diego Luna as thief-turned-rebel spy, Andor comes as a prequel show in the intergalactic franchise — and for some, lost in the myriad of Star Wars series and movies, revisiting the show’s source material might be the best option before new episodes arrive.
Is Andor Connected to Rogue One?
In fact, Andor connects to Rogue One directly since the show serves as a prequel to the movie. The latter, in its turn, came back in 2016 as a prequel to the original Star Wars film released in 1977.
Andor’s events unfold five years prior to what Rogue One depicts; this indicates that the series sees the early rise of the Rebellion, exploring Cassian Andor’s personal motives to join the fight against the Galactic Empire as the now much bigger Rebel Alliance is getting formed.
Apart from expanding the story built by Rogue One, Andor also gives a satisfying resolution to Star Wars’ major plot hole by unraveling how exactly the rebellious movement has come to power so big it eventually became menacing for the Empire itself.
Andor Fans Are on Cloud Nine After Season 2 Glowing Reviews
It’s fair to say the show’s second season is in fact likely to become a perfect wrap-up for the story, and its fans have had their hopes high ever since the first early reviews dropped.
“The full season being released for review screams confidence. We’re not choking on our aspirations for this one”, Redditor zetbotz pointed out in a thread.
“Y'all, I know social reactions are not completely indicative of the review score, but these reactions are GLOWING. Seems the Andor team knocked it outta the park”, Kyl3rMaker also chimed in.
“I was in it - the opening 10 minutes is so awesome and the character dynamics are a masterclass. It gets right into some of the first arc’s storytelling - and based on what I saw, the trailers are only covering (mostly) the first few episodes. We’ll be blind by week 2 and 3 by speculation - I absolutely cannot wait for these mini-movies to drop”, ForesterDesign contributed to everyone’s expectations getting even higher.
When Is Andor Season 2 Being Released?
Andor’s second and final season is set to premiere on April 22 with three first episodes dropped on Disney+.
The rest of the season will be released until May 13 with three new episodes arriving on the platform every Tuesday.
