The Pitt is one of the most realistic, raw, and dramatic series in recent years, and here are the most painful stories to watch.

The Pitt is a microcosm of human life – people die, are born, and even get resurrected there. The air is filled with the smell of medical alcohol, catheters are intertwined overhead, and doctors and interns rush around the wards.

The short breaks between surgeries do little to reduce stress, and work stress gives way to personal pain – each doctor has their own fracture, albeit not of the body, but of the spirit.

It's no surprise that The Pitt is filled with heartbreaking stories, and here are five that I won't be able to forget, even if I try very hard.

1. Nick's Honor Walk

There were many heartbreaking patient stories in the first season of The Pitt, but Nick's was the first, and therefore the most painful. He was hospitalized after overdosing on fentanyl, which resulted in brain death.

His parents could not accept that he was gone and demanded that Dr. Robby performs more tests. When they finally accepted the situation, they were faced with another painful choice: Nick had agreed to become an organ donor.

Initially, the parents resisted, but they eventually agreed after talking with a priest. As an organ donor whose sacrifice would save several lives, Nick was escorted out of Pitt with an honor walk, in which both doctors and patients participated.

2. Dr. Collins' Miscarriage

From the first episode, it was clear that getting pregnant was a struggle for Heather Collins. As viewers later learned, she became pregnant with the help of IVF, but lost the baby at the end of the seventh episode.

Even more heartbreaking is that she pulled herself together and delivered a surrogate's baby.

This storyline culminated in her difficult conversation with Michael, during which she strongly hinted that she had previously terminated a pregnancy with him because she wasn't ready to become a mother, and that she wouldn't be able to endure another failed IVF attempt.

3. Mel's Conversation with Bella

Mel immediately established herself as an emotionally intelligent person who can empathize with others. However, she fully revealed this quality in the story of the drowned girl and her sister, Bella.

Mel was chosen to play the role of the person who needs to talk to Bella after her sister's death. Instead of simply dumping tragic news on the little girl, however, Mel chose a softer way.

She brought Bella a teddy bear and asked her to tell it what she wanted to tell her sister. In doing so, Mel gave Bella a chance to talk to her best friend one last time.

4. Dr. Robby's Speech

“It's the worst of humanity, but it brought out the best in the rest of us.” Dr. Robby's speech at the end of the last episode was the best monologue of the entire season, leaving few people dry-eyed.

After a hellish shift involving a shooting at Pittfest, blood, suffering, and death, Michael reminds all the hospital workers why they come to work every day – to be guardian angels for those in need.

5. Dr. Robby's Breakdown After Leah's Death

Dr. Robby started his shift for the first time on the day his mentor died, but he didn't break down. He saw children and teenagers die, but it didn't break him. He had to tell relatives the worst news of their lives, but he stood firm.

Michael broke down when he couldn't save Leah, Jake's girlfriend. Although doctors had strict rules for receiving shooting victims, Robby broke them in an attempt to save the girl.

It all ended in a heartbreaking meltdown in the same room where Dr. Adamson died. Even more painful is that Jake blamed Robby for not saving his beloved.
