Sorry, Meredith Grey.

As someone who has always stayed away from medicine, I have always been fascinated by medical procedural shows.

Of course, in most of them, what happens on screen has nothing to do with how real surgeons work in ordinary hospitals around us, but the unusual diagnoses, terms and general details of medical practice make it difficult to tear yourself away from the screen.

Always on the lookout for something new, I've spent hours watching various shows, but I've come to a surprising conclusion: there aren't that many doctors I'd actually want to end up being a patient of! While many of them are undeniably talented surgeons and practitioners, very few actually put their patients first and stay as an advocate for them.

So, here are 3 of the best TV doctors who aren't likely to screw up your health due to lack of patience, emotional outbursts, or trying to prove their worth to someone else.

Dr. James Wilson (House M. D.)

When it comes to House M.D., most people would immediately think of the title character, Dr. Gregory House. However, he has too many flaws that could interfere with his brilliant mind at the worst possible moment. He's also not the kind of character who is compassionate and empathetic. His moral compass in the face of Dr. James Wilson, however, is.

Kind and always putting the patient's best interests first, he would be sure to deliver the most unfortunate news in the most gentle manner, which is a very important skill considering his position as Chief Oncologist. That doesn't detract from his medical talents.

With Dr. Wilson, you'd have the best of both worlds, for as long as you’re sure House didn’t touch his morning coffee.

Dr. Cristina Yang (Grey’s Anatomy)

Cristina Yang, on the other hand, is the only person whose natural surgical skills are undeniable, even if she lacks the social skills. From the very beginning of the show, it was clear that no doctor was as talented, as quick to respond, and as passionate about each and every diagnosis as Dr. Yang.

Frankly, in a life-or-death situation, no one cares that much about formalities. If the surgeon who's treating me doesn't really care about me as a person, but about my survival and health from a medical standpoint, so be it!

Known for pushing back when it's necessary and trying every single method and approach before giving up, Cristina Yang would definitely make me feel safe.

Dr. Mark Greene (ER)

There were plenty of reasons for Mark Greene to be as popular as he was. A complex character with a lot on his mind and a tragic death, he was a person who set the tone not only for the ER in a hospital, but also for ER as a TV show.

Incredibly talented, he was known for making the best decisions, owning up to his mistakes, and having the right words for anyone in need.

Of course, like any doctor or human being, he was flawed, often exhausted and overworked, and led by his emotions, but his patients meant the world to him. Dr. Greene was the greatest advocate for those who needed help, so he would have been the doctor of choice for many people.
