Xavier Is Not in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 & It’s Totally Fine

The first season of Tim Burton’s hit show left the door open for Wednesday’s potential romance, but Percy Hynes White’s character is unlikely to be involved.
Nevermore Academy is about to welcome its students back in Wednesday’s second season, the first part of which premieres, well, this Wednesday, though it doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a major change throughout three years of wait.
While some new characters are about to be introduced in the show’s upcoming sophomore instalment, others will be gone forever, despite being set up to push Wednesday’s storyline forward back in season 1.
This is also the case for Percy Hynes White’s Xavier who developed some feelings for Wednesday before he was eventually written off the second season.
Ironically, it seems like fans won’t miss him much anyway.
Why Isn’t Xavier in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2?
Despite potentially becoming a much more significant character in season 2, Xavier was written off the show after a misconduct allegation against Percy Hynes White appeared in a now deleted X post back in 2023.
The actor denied the accusations and no formal complaint was made against him ever since, though Tim Burton eventually left the character out of the entire storyline.
The issue was once addressed by Wednesday’s lead Jenna Ortega who in an interview with Vanity Fair back in 2024 revealed that losing White’s Xavier felt like “a weird redirect, but we’re introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost”.
‘Wednesday’ Fans Were Never Okay With Xavier Anyway
Even though this wasn’t what Tim Burton intended to do, the decision to scrap Wednesday and Xavier’s love story entirely turned out to be exactly what the show’s fans wanted all along.
“I doubt anyone will care. Wednesday didn't like him, Bianca moved on and he has no connection to other characters. I'm honestly happy we won't see him again. I couldn't take another season of his whiney "poor me is in the friendzone" nice guy act”, Redditor raylalayla revealed in a thread.
“What would be the point? He was kind of useless in the first season other than being a red herring. The only thing he did was bring minimal information about a character that was already dead”, another user agreed.
“Xavier was the least liked of the characters by a pretty wide margin. I just thought he was terribly boring and had little to no screen presence or chemistry”, another Redditor chimed in.
Wednesday’s season 2 is coming to Netflix in two parts, with volumes 1 and 2 landing on the streamer’s platform on August 6 and September 3 respectively.
