Even though many fans think it's really time to pull the plug on Yellowstone, some things continue to surprise them.

Sunday evenings on Paramount Network belong to the Dutton family, and episode 6 premiered on December 11 just on time for fans to check out how the fifth season's story evolves. Spoiler alert: not so good.

In what appears to be a new norm for Yellowstone, fans have once again flocked to Reddit to complain that the show sees no development amid its lazy writing and repetitive storylines.

However, one "plot twist" was enough to surprise fans — even though one could hardly call it a pleasant surprise.

Redditor AmericanWanderlust revealed that the "plot twist I didn't see coming" was Jamie being "a horny teenaged boy" and sleeping with the brunette version of his sister Beth in almost every episode.

"No less than four sex scenes in the past three episodes. I think this is a record for this show," the Redditor noted.

Yellowstone Fans Figured Out Who Will Be the Last Dutton Standing

Despite the fact that Jamie's bizarre relationship with Dawn Olivieri's Claire gives viewers ick every time the two appear on screen, it looks like it might finally lead to something substantial in the show.

Still, even the bleak hope for some story development does not save the show entirely.

"This is where you can see why Yellowstone doesn't win awards. With a different writer -- taking Sheridan's concept and general ideas, granted -- you'd have these characters be sooo much more nuanced, the inter-personal relationships would be front and center amongst all of them, not just the same 2-3 scene partners all the time," the Redditor continued.

Instead of properly developing the show's promising dynamics, writers have apparently decided to stick to making Beth a "blonde Thanos", as fans put it. Even Jamie's evolution into a "monster" that Beth and John have turned him into does not look even remotely as interesting as it could.

Still, there is an entire second part of the season ahead. Season 5 will be the first Yellowstone season to be split into two installments; the first one is set to wrap up on December 18 with episode 7.

The premiere date for episode 8 and the rest of the 14 episodes remains to be scheduled.
