Netflix keeps expanding its library, and fans are cheering its latest gem of an addition: an iconic police comedy show with great scores on RT and IMDb alike.

Summary:

  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a unique eight-season-long blend of the police procedural and workplace sitcom genres.
  • The show has amazing scores on both IMDb (8.4) and Rotten Tomatoes (95%) and a massive fan following.
  • Recently, the first four seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine became available on Netflix, after years of Peacock ’s exclusive rights on it.

If you want to watch every movie and TV show there is, you’ll need an unhealthy number of streaming platform subscriptions. This becomes even more annoying if your major platform doesn’t cover your favorite series, because paying a full price elsewhere only to watch a single show is bizarre. That’s why all streamers work tirelessly on expanding their libraries, and Netflix has grown its quite a lot lately.

Now, fans celebrate an iconic police comedy show’s addition to Netflix. For many years, it was only available on Peacock, but now, it’s finally non-exclusive!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Is a Unique Police Show

Both police procedurals and workplace sitcoms have been incredibly popular since the dawn of television; ask any Law & Order or The Office fan. These two genres are brilliant on their own, but their combination is something few tried — and no one did it better than Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the iconic eight-season-long police sitcom.

Despite both procedurals and sitcoms being considered “low” genres, Brooklyn Nine-Nine made them pass all the checks with flying colors. The TV show has a 8.4 IMDb score and the whopping 95% Critic Score on Rotten Tomatoes complimented by its 87% Audience Score, as well. It’s easy to see why fans adore this series.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Just Joined Netflix

Unfortunately, for many years, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was only available on one streaming service, Peacock. While it’s not the most popular platform out there, it largely benefitted from its monopoly on the beloved police workplace comedy. However, Peacock’s reign over Brooklyn Nine-Nine is now officially over.

While fans are rejoicing from this news, there’s an important detail many overlook: it’s only the first four seasons of the show that are now available on Netflix, not the entire show. You can hop on Netflix to watch the first half of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but if you want to finish it — you guessed it, you’ll still have to resort to Peacock.

So while it’s undoubtedly great news, it’s only one half of a full victory for Netflix enjoyers.
