The trauma in question is the one that Hollywood fame has left them with when they were both way too young.

Actress Keira Knightley seems to have followed in the unfortunate footsteps of Harry Potter 's star Emma Watson, as she talks about feeling oversexualized while filming Pirates of the Caribbean. Seems like quite a pattern…

Knightley was only 17 (can you believe it?) when international fame quickly caught up with her as a result of the huge success of the first installment – 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

In her new interview for Harper's Bazaar U.K., Keira admits to feeling "stuck" and "constrained" while playing the young and adventurous Elizabeth Swan as her persona was completely out of Knightley's character.

The actress herself says that she was always more "tomboyish" despite playing parts that were rather feminine, causing her to feel "caged" in something she did not quite get. We have all been there at some point…

At the time, Knightley landed roles in several notable movies, including Love Actually, Pride & Prejudice, and Atonement.

It is actually hard to imagine that Keira felt so out of place, considering how believable her performances are in all these great movies. We are guessing her Oscar nom was truly well-deserved (no shocker there).

In spite of the fact that Knightley's Elizabeth Swan did not receive any Academy Awards' nominations, she was still the it-girl of the 2000s.

The star even acknowledges it herself, "She was the object of everybody's lust." We could not agree more, and that would be tough to handle for any 17-year-old, even for a mature industry-savvy one Keira Knightley certainly was.

Some fans are debating whether her experiences could be related to the fact that she had to film Pirates of the Caribbean with Johnny Depp, who has been under fire for the past few years following his scandalous defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard.

People are wondering if the accused-of-all-things-bad actor might have contributed to her feeling uncomfortable in the role.

We may never know the answer to that but no one can really argue that Pirates of the Caribbean is an awesome franchise that ended up stuck in our hearts for years to come.

We don't know about you but we are ready for another POTC marathon right now. Brb, just getting the popcorn out…
