Intense Mexican Action Thriller Fights Its Way to Netflix #1

The new movie will easily turn you into an action thriller fan, as it already did with thousands of other Netflix viewers.
Counterstrike, originally titled Contraataque, is an adrenaline-pumping action movie that has quickly made a name for itself on Netflix. Landing at number two on the streamer's charts right after its release and then becoming №1 only within a day, the movie delivers exactly what fans of explosive and high-stakes action crave.
The film centers on a small but fierce group of soldiers who, after stopping a random kidnapping while out shopping, find themselves caught up in a dangerous conflict with a ruthless cartel. So this seemingly little act of heroism leads them into a fight for survival as they are hunted by an army of cartel henchmen.
What the bad guys don't realize is that they have taken on a group of Mexican special forces known as the Murciélagos. They are elite operatives so skilled that they can only be killed from behind. The plot is full of gunfire and explosions, with some heroic showdowns that fans of the genre are sure to enjoy.
Why Counterattack Is Worth Watching
Social media is already full with short reviews on the movie, and the main sentiment is “do not miss this one.” The viewers talk a lot about the movie’s visuals and the atmosphere it creates. Seems like the real fans of the genre have been waiting for this kind of hit for a long time now.
“It's so cool to see idealistic young Mexican special ops guys. The movie does a good job of highlighting Mexican military culture and esprit de corps,” said X user ValidScience.
There was one thing that made some fans feel uneasy, though.
“Ok just finished, excellent action pic. The reversed scope thing bothered me throughout, but the rest was actually great,” Reddit user Difficult-Shelter669 noted.
Counterstrike stars Luis Alberti, Noé Hernández, Luis Curiel, Leonardo Alonso, and Mayra Batalla as the main characters. The actors are perfectly cast and make you want to sympathize with them. The story is not a one-dimensional tale of special forces firing their guns at bad guys, but a more intimate story of how the dynamics work in such a group.
The movie delivers a story that's both fast-paced and very personal at the same time, as the soldiers fight not only to survive, but also to protect each other in the face of impossible odds.
Counterstrike premiered on Netflix on February 28.
