The latest chapter of the hit vampire series is almost here.

A new chapter of Interview with the Vampire will be released in 2026. Titled The Vampire Lestat, the new season will explore the story of the franchise's second most important character.

While the first two seasons were told from Louis' perspective, this one will focus on Lestat.

When Will 'The Vampire Lestat' Be Released?

AMC has officially confirmed the June 7, 2026 premiere of the third season. The TV series will air on AMC and AMC+.

What Were the First Seasons of 'Interview with the Vampire' About?

Interview with the Vampire is one of the most striking vampire series in recent years. Based on Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series, the show's creators crafted a new story that is more candid, darker, and, in many ways, more literary than the 1994 movie starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

The plot centers on Louis de Pointe du Lac. Many years later, he decides to tell journalist Daniel Molloy about his life. Louis recounts meeting the mysterious and dangerous vampire Lestat de Lioncourt in New Orleans at the turn of the 20th century.

They quickly develop a mutual attraction that turns into a difficult and dependent relationship. Lestat simultaneously becomes a mentor, a tormentor, and a close friend from whom Louis cannot escape.

Later, Claudia appeared in their lives – a girl turned into a vampire who could not grow up. Unlike in the book, where Louis is portrayed as a white plantation owner, in the series, he is a Black entrepreneur, which adds depth and interest to his story.

What Will 'The Vampire Lestat' Be About?

Following the publication of the best-selling pulp novel Interview with the Vampire, Lestat is furious because he dislikes how the author portrayed him. He plans to rectify the situation in the most spectacular way possible – Lestat forms a band and embarks on a tour to become a rock star.

However, shedding the ghosts of the past proves to be far from easy. He lives two lives: publicly, he is a rock star, privately, he is a suffering, reflective, and deeply complex character. He wants to prove to others, and to himself, that he's not the monster that Louis portrayed him to be.

In an interview with EW, showrunner Rolin Jones said:

“We're not here to repeat moves we made in season 1 and season 2. You've got to go for it, man. It's Lestat front and center, which just means it ain't going to be as linear, it's going to be contradictory, it's going to be all over the place because he kind of is that way.”

Another intriguing question is what will happen to the other important characters. Louis will likely have to live in a world where his version of history no longer belongs to him. Armand must cope with the consequences of the second season's revelations and Daniel must come to terms with his new status as a vampire.

The creators promise that the new season will be different from the previous ones, which is both encouraging and frightening. Interview with the Vampire was loved precisely for its unique tone: dark, literary, and almost operatic.
