Amazon's two flagship superhero shows have never shared a universe. They now share Jack Quaid, and his transfer took about a month.

Invincible season 5 lands on Prime Video in 2027 — that's the official word, with no month attached. The unofficial math is tighter: Robert Kirkman has said his target is a new season roughly every year, seasons 3 and 4 premiered in February 2025 and March 2026, and in a Collider Q&A he floated April, maybe May, while confirming final animation was coming back and voice acting was done. Early-ish 2027, in other words, for a season that has been effectively finished on the audio side for months.

The new face is the fun part. Jack Quaid — Hughie from The Boys — joins the voice cast as Gravitator, real name Chris, a gifted engineer who builds an anti-gravity suit and uses it for petty theft until a run-in with Mark Grayson points him toward the Global Defense Agency instead. Kirkman announced the casting at Prime Video's Annecy showcase with a first clip in the room.

"There's still so much story left to tell."

Now the timeline. The Boys aired its series finale on May 20, 2026. The Quaid announcement came June 24. Amazon moved its Hughie from one superhero flagship to the other in just over a month — the seat didn't even get cold. He follows Jeffrey Dean Morgan across the same bridge, and for voice-cast trivia collectors: the man now playing an animated petty thief also voices Superman himself on My Adventures With Superman. Quaid has quietly cornered the market on every point of the superhero morality spectrum.

The 2027 plans go past season 5

The same Annecy panel delivered the structural news: season 6 is already ordered, announced before season 5 has aired a single frame, making Invincible the longest-running animated series in Prime Video history. The renewal logic is on the scoreboard — season 4 (March 18 to April 22, 2026) was the show's most-watched season and held a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, extending a critical streak most live-action superhero franchises would trade a multiverse for.

What season 5 is actually walking into, per the official teases:

  • The cliffhanger: season 4 ended with Thragg's ultimatum to Mark — a truce built on mutually assured destruction — and Viltrumites quietly assimilating on Earth to repopulate their species.
  • Returning: Thragg (Lee Pace) and Dinosaurus (Matthew Rhys), promoted from his season 4 cameo.
  • Not returning: Conquest, per Prime Video's own flat assurance that he "will not be back." Given how season 3 went, fans can be forgiven for wanting that in writing.
  • The core cast: Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, plus the Seth Rogen-sized ensemble.

One more pattern worth watching: for three years running, the new season's first teaser has been a Burger Mart sketch dropped at New York Comic Con, and each one carried the release window. NYCC 2026 has just wrapped — if the tradition held, the exact date question answers itself within days; if it didn't, February-to-May 2027 remains the betting range built from Kirkman's own cadence.
