This chapter is darker, more uncompromising, and more politically charged than anything Marvel has released in recent years.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again, the revival of one of Marvel's most realistic and brutal series, has premiered.

The first three episodes of the new chapter prove that Daredevil is not only back in form but also at his best.

Matt Murdock, who once saved his arch-rival and current New York City mayor, Wilson Fisk, from a bullet, has disappeared. Fisk's special squad is combing the city and capturing anyone they deem undesirable.

In the dungeons of the Red Hook port, which the Kingpin easily took over, other New York heroes and ordinary citizens who crossed the mayor's henchmen are languishing.

Murdock, under the guise of Daredevil, attempts to thwart the plans of a villain dreaming of an illegal arms deal. But how can a mayor who has managed to bend the law to his will be overthrown?

'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Is Slowly Building Toward a Larger Goal

The main criticism of the new season is its pacing – the writers are reluctant to thrust viewers into intense fights and shootouts. It's not until the third episode that the action for which the show is known truly makes its presence felt.

However, this is not a negative aspect – it's a deliberate choice by the creators. Last season's characters receive enough screen time to set the stage for the inevitable tragedy.

New ones are also introduced, such as the comical, mouthy CIA agent Mr. Charles, played by Matthew Lillard.

'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Is Noticeably Darker Than the First Season

The second season of Born Again is significantly darker than the first, establishing a sense of hopelessness from the very beginning. Although New York City seems prettier and safer in the mockumentary scenes, the streets are filled with unrest.

By the third episode, it's clear that the confrontation between the people and the Kingpin won't end peacefully. Random acts of disobedience erupt throughout the city, and Daredevil is assigned a pivotal role in the impending conflict.

Familiar topics – the psychology of masked vigilantes, the exploration of dark alter egos, and the ambiguity of violence, even for good – are complemented by a message about the conflict between perverted power and the will of the people.

In Born Again, studio bosses finally seem to be letting the writers take control into their own hands, and the result is the boldest and most mature superhero series in recent years.
