Green Arrow comeback that we deserve.

It's not that surprising to see another Netflix original movie at the top of Netflix's most-watched list. After all, there is a huge point of exclusivity that comes into play. In the case of Stephen and Robbie Amell's new sci-fi movie, however, it's a combination of several factors that came together to ensure success.

First of all, Code 8: Part II is a sequel. All those viewers who are familiar with the first movie and found it to be right up their alley are likely to come back for the sequel.

Second, since it is a Netflix original, there is no way to watch it other than by tuning in to Netflix. And then, considering the recent rise of interest in the sci-fi genre, Code 8: Part II fits the bill perfectly.

But is it really worth watching? Do you need to see the first part to understand the second? Which is better, Code 8: Part II or another recent sci-fi premiere on Netflix, Adam Sandler 's Spaceman? Here's everything you need to know about Netflix's most-watched movie.

How to Watch Code 8?

If you thought the superhero genre no longer existed outside of Marvel and DC, think again. Starting with a self-produced short film in 2016, The CW action stars Stephen and Robbie Amell partnered with Netflix to create another full-fledged superhuman story, Code 8, written and directed by Jeff Chan.

The first movie was a success, thanks in part to the popularity the Amell brothers already had with fans of the genre, and in part to the compelling script. Code 8 ended up with a nice 81% rating from critics, so the anticipation for Part II was very real, and the stakes to live up to expectations were high.

Looking at where Code 8: Part II stands now, the movie has managed to capture the audience's attention. When it was released on Netflix on February 28, 2024, Code 8: Part II topped the platform's most-watched movies with more than 20 million streams. However, critics gave the sequel a slightly lower rating than the original film, putting it at 69%.

Of course, Code 8 and Code 8: Part II are even better if you can watch them all at once and immerse yourself in Chan's fictional universe.

Another sci-fi movie that now occupies the third place of the rating, Spaceman, is a bit more risky. While it will appeal more to all fans of space dramas, it received a lot of mixed reviews and now stands at 50% on Rotten Tomatoes.

So, pick a movie you like, pop some popcorn, get comfortable and stream either the Code 8 franchise or Adam Sandler's space drama exclusively on Netflix.
