Is The Creep Tapes season 3 renewed? Mark Duplass had his answer before season 2 even aired
Horror's most productive serial killer doesn't do cliffhanger renewals — the receipts on this one predate the season you were worried about.
Short answer: yes — so emphatically yes that the question was obsolete before it could be asked. Shudder ordered The Creep Tapes season 3 before season 2 had even premiered in November 2025. And on December 19, the night the season 2 finale dropped, Mark Duplass got on social media and rendered the renewal watch fully ceremonial:
"We've already shot 2 episodes of Season 3. Standby."
That's the whole answer. While other shows sweat completion rates, Duplass and director Patrick Brice were already out in the woods with a camcorder. It helps that this is the cheapest hit on television — the anthology spin-off of their 2014 film Creep still runs on the same found-footage formula: tiny crew, one very friendly murderer named Peachfuzz, one new victim per episode, one wolf mask.

The standby is over, by the way
The season Duplass teased is not some distant promise — it's airing right now. Season 3 premiered September 15 on Shudder and AMC+, rolling out six episodes in two-a-week pairs, with the final two landing September 29. Shudder's tease for the season was appropriately clingy:
"Peachfuzz isn't finished with you yet."
The guest-victim lineup is the strongest the show has fielded:
- Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House), the biggest name yet to answer one of Peachfuzz's job listings
- Nicholas Hamilton (It) and Elliott Fullam (Terrifier), imported from two other horror franchises
- Ora Duplass — yes, that surname — keeping it a family business in the most unsettling possible sense
Why Shudder keeps writing blank checks
The renew-first-ask-later posture isn't sentimentality. Season 1 became the most-watched Shudder series of all time on AMC+ and the strongest November release in the platform's history, driving record subscriber growth. Season 2 got more formally ambitious, including a meta episode starring David Dastmalchian as a copycat killer who'd found the original Creep footage on the dark web — the franchise cannibalizing its own mythology on camera.
So the pattern going forward is established: assume it's renewed, assume some of it is already shot, and assume Duplass will announce it himself, casually, at the exact moment you stop paying attention. Season 3's finale pair hits Shudder today.
