Despite recent buzz and social media chatter about the possibility of a Schitt's Creek revival, specifically a new project currently in production, the rumors are false. But the reason people can't stop thinking about it is real: the Rosebud Motel.
In the show, the motel was something of a character itself, serving as a place where the Roses learned to be themselves and embrace their family. After all, it was the motel that made them rich again and also gave Stevie a chance to live the life of her dreams.
In reality though The Rosebud Motel, a central location in the beloved series, is located in Hockley Valley, Ontario. And recently the fans of the show noticed that the sign of the motel is all shiny and new, which made them all think that the series is coming back.
However, that’s far from the truth, as it’s a known fact that after the series ended, the owner of the building, Jesse Tipping, who rented the motel's exterior for scenes featuring the Rose family, continued to rent out the rooms on Airbnb, capitalizing on the show's popularity among fans.
In March 2021, Tipping listed the property for sale at approximately $1.6 million. The 6.7-acre site includes 10 rooms, a two-story manager's suite, a 700-square-foot detached cottage, and a barn with space for three horses. The listing highlighted the property's history as a filming location for Schitt's Creek and other productions.
Since the sale, there have been no official announcements regarding the property's new use. While some fans speculated about the possibility of a Schitt's Creek-themed motel or Airbnb, no official plans have been confirmed. But there are still rumors.
“This has been posted a couple times. I think some other posts have said a company bought it and plans on capitalizing on the success of the show and opening it as a motel potentially Schitt's themed,” Redditor Strict-Issue-2030 said.
Will Schitt's Creek Ever Come Back? Here’s What Dan Levy Says
As already established, there is no new Schitt's Creek project in the works. And recently there were no comments on potential revival, reboot or any sort of come back.
However, in 2023 Dan Levy said in an interview with E! News that while he loves the fact that the fans still want more, "but it has to beat what we've done, and that's a tough thing to do.”
And then added "So until the idea comes to me, who knows?"
