Jack Quaid auditioned for the role of Superman in James Gunn's upcoming film but didn't get the part. Here's what the actor thinks about that and about David Corenswet, who will play Superman.

Jack Quaid's role as Hughie in The Boys became a turning point in his career. He played an ordinary man in a world of corrupt superheroes who loses his loved one under terrible circumstances.

Few people know, however, that Quaid also voiced one of the most popular superheroes, Superman, in the animated series My Adventures with Superman.

His portrayal of the young, emotional Clark Kent received high praise from critics and viewers alike, proving his understanding of the character's essence.

It was revealed that Quaid had auditioned for the upcoming James Gunn movie Superman, hoping to bring the character to life not only with his voice but also with his appearance.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Quaid admitted that he hoped his experience voicing the character would help him land the role of Clark Kent:

“I remember getting that audition and being like, 'Yes, I'm the voice of Superman in a cartoon,' but I don't think I really fit the bill physically, and that's fine, it's totally cool.”

Quaid Claims There's No Better Actor for the Superman Role Than David Corenswet

However, he maintains a positive attitude about the failed audition, saying that there could not have been a better choice for the role than David Corenswet:

“I put myself on tape, and it went nowhere, and that's fine. [...] I actually know David Corenswet a little bit; we did a pilot years ago that never went anywhere. But he's one of those people you meet, and you go, ‘Oh, yeah, whenever they need another [Superman], it's probably going to be [him].”

Jack Quaid Would Be a Perfect Flash, Fans Say

Although it's difficult to imagine Jack Quaid as Clark Kent, fans have another DC superhero in mind for him – Barry Allen, aka Flash.

Many believe that Quaid would be the perfect choice for the role of Flash, both in appearance and in the energy he radiates. Redditor TheShad09 wrote:

“He gives off dadjoke Barry energy well if they go for him as the DCU's main Flash.”

And James Gunn should absolutely cast Jack Quaid as the Flash – not only because he would be great, but also because it would be the ultimate meta joke.

Those who watched The Boys will remember that Hughie's story began when A-Train, the local version of the Flash, accidentally killed his girlfriend.
