Jason Momoa's Presumably Dead Character to Return in Dune 3, Chalamet Teases

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movie series hit it big with the $433M first installment — and is hitting it huge with Dune: Part Two which has already collected over $494M across three weekends. The lead star Timothée Chalamet has ascended to new heights of popularity, but his passion for revealing upcoming movie details he admittedly took from Tom Holland still remains strong.

Chalamet Revealed Jason Momoa’s Dune 3 Fate

Everyone who’s watched Dune remembers Jason Momoa’s character’s tragic death: his Duncan Idaho sacrificed himself to save Paul Atreides and his mother. That scene was both devastating and disappointing for those of us who haven’t read the books as we were genuinely hoping for more screen time for Jason Momoa.

But apparently, it’s too early to give up on him! Chalamet revealed Duncan Idaho’s fate as well as quipped at director Denis Villeneuve for his secrecy.

“Momoa will be back. Not in this one, but [in Dune: Messiah]. Yeah, if you read the books… It’s so weird because [Denis and the others are] so secretive about the script and the trailer, but [the books] have been out there for 70 years,” the lead star told MTV.

Dune Movies Will Run for Over a Decade More

Timothée Chalamet is, of course, right: Dune the book was released all the way back in 1965, so if someone wants to spoil the movies for themselves or simply learn the plot ahead of time, all they need to do is open their reading app. We can’t say we don’t want to do the same, though, as there are many years until the final movie.

There are six books in total in Frank Herbert’s Dune Chronicles, and since Denis Villeneuve’s are pretty thorough, we can expect just as many movies. Averaging one movie every three years so far, this implies at least 12 more years until the finale’s release, and that’s the amount of time few people are willing to wait before learning how the story ends.
