Jenna Ortega Reveals How Larissa Weems Got Back to Life (Fans Knew This All Along)
Gwendoline Christie’s character has an ability that Wednesday’s fans knew would bring her back, and Jenna Ortega has just proved they were right.
Too many things are about to happen in Wednesday’s season 2 part 2, including a shocking return that no one saw coming, but everyone definitely waited for.
As Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is now to face Tyler aka the Hyde once again somewhere in the woods around Nevermore, she’ll likely get some guidance from Larissa Weems, a seemingly dead Nevermore Principal from season 1 that might not be so dead anymore.
The trailer for the upcoming four episodes has officially declared Gwendoline Christie’s character as alive (sort of) again, with Jenna Ortega confirming a viral fan theory.

On par with Tim Burton who serves as both a part-time director and an executive producer on Wednesday, Jenna Ortega is also on a double mission as the show’s lead and one of the producers, which makes her one of the main figures when it comes to creative decisions.
Despite the entire production team initially feeling like killing Christie’s character would be a good idea, Ortega says they all regretted letting Larissa go that quickly.
“We had had discussions at the end of Season 1 about – we already knew that we were gonna kill her. So we were saying, ‘Oh man, well, this has been a terrible mistake on our part. How are we gonna undo this? Is there a way we could bring her back?’” Ortega said in an interview with AIChark (posted on TikTok).
However, the nature of Larissa’s personality was quick to turn out as a much needed solution.
“I would say, ‘Well, she’s a shapeshifter. Maybe she isn’t dead. Maybe all the shapeshifters, their natural form is [Weems]. Maybe if they all reverted back to their initial state…’ That’s what I wanted”, the actress added.

Even though the show’s creators did make it look like the death scene for Christie’s beloved character, many fans noticed some major inconsistencies and just felt weird about the whole thing.
“I’m not ready to give up on my hope that she faked her death somehow. Mainly just coz I like her, but also because I agree with some of the other commenters here who say her death was anti-climactic. Maybe it wasn’t a death at all??” Redditor HestiaWarren wrote in a thread ahead of Wednesday’s season 1 part 1 release on August 6.
“Not even just that there was clearly some history between her, Morticia, and Gomez. You could feel the tension whenever they were in the same room, but it never really got explored or resolved, which makes her death feel even more unnecessary”, Tight-Working8350 agreed.
Wednesday’s season 2 part 2 is arriving on Netflix on September 3.
