It was always meant to be.

The year 2022 was definitely Jenna Ortega's year: after her stellar roles in The Fallout and the Scream franchise, she marched through everyone's Netflix ( and TikTok) as Wednesday Addams, right into the global trends.

At this point, Ortega's Wednesday role feels as natural as it could be: the actress herself revealed that she is often compared to the creepy Addams teenager, and even the show's critics admitted that her performance in the new Netflix hit was outstanding and uncanny.

But a certain scene in Disney Channel's Stuck in the Middle from six years ago proves that Jenna Ortega and Wednesday Addams were always meant to be. In the comedy series, Ortega portrayed Harley Diaz, a middle child who invents various gadgets to make life a little easier in her large family.

In the very first episode of season 1, Diaz makes a truly prophetic comment: "If my family were a week, I'd be Wednesday!"

Well, that has definitely aged well, although Ortega's character in Stuck in the Middle is much friendlier and nicer than Wednesday Addams, who would rarely change her expression from that now-iconic Kubrick stare.

Look at Ortega now, six years later, who, after that little foreshadowing, is actually Wednesday. As Wednesday has become Netflix's second-biggest English-language TV show, Ortega and the rest of the cast will soon be returning for season 2.

The premiere date for Wednesday season 2 is yet to be scheduled by Netflix.
