The Hunger Games and Poor Things’ actresses are bringing an iconic puppet’s story to the big screen, and it might also become Lawrence and Stone’s first ever movie together.

It’s heartwarming to see Hollywood forming longtime friendships within the rough industry, and it’s even more heartwarming to see that friendship making it to the big screens.

The news has just broken about BFFs Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone producing their first film together, years after both actresses started talking about the necessity to star in the same project one day.

The future movie, however, is likely to become iconic for many more reasons, becoming the first one to not only (possibly) feature both Lawrence and Stone, but also to detail the story of one of the most famous puppet characters in the cinema history.

The Muppet Show’s temperamental diva superstar and feminist icon is finally getting the recognition she deserves now that a movie, so far titled Miss Piggy, is already in works at Disney that owns the rights to expand the original series’ universe.

The details about the upcoming project were revealed by Jennifer Lawrence herself during her appearance on Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ Las Culturistas podcast, with the actress also adding that Broadway star Cole Escola is writing the screenplay. When asked whether she was planning to star in the movie alongside Emma Stone, Lawrence said it might be a necessity at this point.

“I think so. We have to… It’s f—ked up [that we haven’t done a movie together]”, the actress shared.

  • On Rotten Tomatoes, Die, My Love holds a score of 76% from critics

The actress’ active presence in the world media is due to the fact that she’s currently promoting her new black comedy drama Die, My Love alongside co-star Robert Pattinson.

Having premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year, Lynne Ramsay’s movie is coming to theatres this Friday, with many viewers getting their incentive to be the first to see it after a handful of raving reviews from critics.

“Lawrence is mercurial and magnetic. Ramsay demands a lot from the Oscar winner, and Lawrence is up to the challenge. She is panther-like, vulnerable and furious”, San Jose Mercury News’ Randy Myers wrote in his review.

“Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are undeniably in peak form, and writer-director Lynne Ramsay pushes viewers to the edge of their seats with nail-biting tension”, Discussing Film’s Yasmine Kandil shared.
