Looks like everybody's favorite DC detective is finally having a TV treatment he deserved – J.J. Abrams helmed HBO Max series is nearing its production.

According to The Illuminerdi, the series is developed under a working title 'Chimney', with principal photography slated for this fall.

Casting is still underway, but some interesting details are already emerging – looks like Abrams and HBO are looking for Black British male to star as the eponymous character. Some may find this surprising, given that Constantine was always portrayed as a yellow-haired Caucasian man, but it looks like series producers are looking to revamp the character completely. Fans are worried whether changing character's race will affect his origin story – it is mandatory that new hero should reflect Black Brit's experience growing up.

The development of the new Hellblazer series has made fans of the character very happy, and the fact that Abrams is leading the project promises that they will not be disappointed.
