Krasinski and Blunt are a happy married couple, but The Office star shared a story that doesn’t really sound like that: once, he intentionally didn’t alert his wife about an attacking shark!

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski are, without a doubt, a beautiful and merry couple, and we always enjoy watching them together. Their marriage looks picture-perfect, but the story it began with — the story of their honeymoon adventure — is far from that. In fact, it’s anything but soothing since it involves a giant shark attack on Emily.

The thing is, after they got married, Krasinski and Blunt went on a honeymoon which they decided to make interesting by engaging in more or less risky activities. As it goes, they couldn’t have put together their program without including scuba diving — and not just any scuba diving but the one surrounded by massive ocean predators.

John Krasinski shared this story on The Ellen DeGeneres Show: the couple’s diving instructor took them to Grey Reef Sharks which are basically as Jaw-esque as it gets. The thrilling part of their expedition was the close proximity to them…which led John to have to make a risky decision that could’ve cost his young wife her life!

"Emily never wanted to learn scuba diving and I was like 'We'll never get into trouble with sharks.’ All of a sudden, one [shark] broke off from the circle and started swimming behind us. I saw it and Emily didn't. He started to charge Emily, so my decision was, 'If I spook her and she moves a lot, he might bite her,'" Krasinski shared.

This, of course, was a risky plan. The Office star was watching the giant beast charge at his wife hoping that he’d made the right call — and then, the predator swam past Emily Blunt, nearly brushing her. As the actress realized what just happened, she “kind of passed out underwater,” as John Krasinski put it.

This honeymoon was this close to ending in a terrible tragedy, and we can’t help but feel sorry for both the actors, especially Emily: she must have felt really shaken for hours after this close encounter. Let’s just say, they got incredibly lucky there, and the fact that this incident became a funny story to share on a talk show is a blessing.
