4 Comedies of the 2010s I Used to Binge As a Teenager, Ranked

Even though they are absolutely predictable and full of cliches, these movies were a great part of my teenage years and I can’t imagine my life without them. So you'd better check them out as well.
Back when I still was more concentrated on movies rather than TV series, there were some films that I was obsessing over. Maybe because they are all about teenagers and their struggles, maybe because my life as a teen wasn’t as full of different parties and loud events, but these movies were with me for several years.
Each of these 5 comedies bring their own charisma to the screen, and even today I rewatch them all with a slight nostalgia about the times when I still had hopes matching Taylor Swift’s “You belong with me” song.
1. ‘LOL (Laughing Out Loud)’ (2008)
My ultimate number one choice is this French movie with Sophie Marceau as the titular character’s mom. The film follows a teenage girl named Lola (who her friends call LOL) navigating a typical family and romance drama.
What I loved the most about the movie and why I kept rewatching it every autumn is the soundtrack, which includes some of the most iconic songs by Keane, The Rolling Stones and other lesser known but still extremely talented bands.
2. ‘Wild Child’ (2008)
This flop of a movie is my next favorite in this list, and I can’t even tell why. Maybe I just love a good redemption arc? The film follows Poppy Moore, played by Emma Roberts, a spoiled young girl forced to leave Miami and attend Abbey Mount school for girls, where she learns the true value of friendship and love. Teenage comedy drama at its best!
3. ‘LOL’ (2012)
Nope, it’s not a mistake, it’s a remake of my favorite teenage movie made in the U.S. this time, with Miley Cyrus playing titular Lola. While many fans of the OG movie hated it, I think it was a great remake that managed to capture youth struggles but with a different vibe.
4. ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging’ (2008)
I am ranking this as the last only because it is the cringiest of all. However, when I was 15, all I wanted was to have a story like titular Georgia had – to fall in love with the most good looking guy out there and have him love me back. Add to this the fact that her beloved Robbie was played by young Aaron Taylor-Johnson and you'll understand me.
