John Wick and Rocky in a Mine Under Marseille: New Netflix Action Film Featuring a Real UFC Champion Gains 5 Million Views a Day

But the project might not have reached you yet. Let’s fix that.
The French action film K.O. premiered on Netflix on June 6 and has since been racking up 5 million views per day. In just three days — nearly 15 million. The film entered Netflix’s Top 10 in 92 countries and reached number one in France and Paraguay.
The main character is a former MMA fighter named Bastien, played by UFC champion Ciryl Gane. In his very first fight, he accidentally kills his opponent in the ring — and leaves the sport in disgrace, ending up working in a mine. But two years later, the widow of the deceased fighter comes to him for help: her son has disappeared. And Bastien realizes — this is his chance for redemption.
What follows? A neon-lit fight club with shattered jaws, blood-soaked brawls in the spirit of Oldboy, villains named Manshur, shootouts in salt warehouses, and survival in a literal one-against-all scenario. Critics admit the plot is derivative, but it’s executed in a way that doesn’t leave room for boredom — especially when the action scenes are shot in the Indonesian style of The Raid, and the protagonist is not immortal, but very much vulnerable.
The film currently holds a modest 5.8 rating on IMDb, but genre fans are thrilled:
"A tough movie, full of adrenaline.","The action catches you from the first minutes." "Defintely deserves more then a 5.8"
In short, if you’ve been missing old-school action films with a 'redemption through fists' kind of moral — K.O. will definitely impress you.
