'Jujutsu Kaisen' Recap: Everything You Need to Remember Before Watching Season 3
From Yuji Itadori's first encounter with Sukuna to the fateful events in Shibuya.
After more than two years of anticipation, the third season of the world's most popular anime series, Jujutsi Kaisen, finally premiered on Crunchyroll on January 8.
To help you catch up before the next episodes premiere, we've compiled a summary of the key events from the previous seasons and movie, breaking them down.
What Happened in 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 1?

The story begins with Yuji Itadori, a high school student with superhuman physical strength who is living an ordinary life. After his grandfather dies, Yuji accidentally becomes involved in a dangerous magical world.
In order to save his new acquaintance, Megumi Fushiguro, a sorcerer, from a curse, Yuji swallows a mysterious finger. It turns out that this object is a vessel for the spirit of the legendary King of Curses, Sukuna. According to the laws of sorcerers, hosts like Yuji must be executed immediately.
However, the powerful sorcerer Satoru Gojo saves the young man's life. Gojo proposes temporarily delaying the execution to use Yuji to find the remaining parts of Sukuna so they can destroy them all at once.
Thus, Yuji enrolls in Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, where he begins fighting curses alongside Megumi and Nobara Kugisaki. During his training, Yuji is forced to make a dangerous pact with Sukuna: upon commanding "Enchain," Yuji gives his body to Sukuna for one minute. Afterwards, he forgets about it.
The first season concludes with a significant event at the training ground during the inter-school competition.
Students were attacked by powerful special-rank curses, which indicates that someone powerful is coordinating the attacks and that a global threat is brewing in the world of sorcerers.
What Happened in 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 2 & 'Jujutsu Kaisen 0'?

The second season shifts perspectives, plunging viewers into the past. The first arc is a prequel that chronicles the youth of Satoru Gojo and his best friend, Suguru Geto.
We see how these two of the strongest students of their generation gradually drift apart. One of their crucial missions is to protect Riko Amanai, which ends with her death at the hands of Toji Fushiguro, the mercenary and father of Megumi.
This event, coupled with the subsequent encounter of the cruelty of ordinary people and the magical establishment, pushes Geto down a dark path.
Disillusioned with the world, he leaves school, commits mass murder, and ultimately becomes the main antagonist, seeking to create a world for sorcerers only.
The feature-length movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 reveals Geto's fate. The film takes place a year before the main events of the series. The main character, Yuta Okkotsu, is Gojo's new apprentice and clashes with Geto.
During the final battle, Satoru must confront and kill his former best friend. Following this loss, Gojo takes Megumi, Toji's son, under his wing.

The second arc of the second season returns to the present day and the climactic Shibuya Incident of October 31. In a decisive battle, the most powerful sorcerers and curses clash.
Geto, whose body has been possessed by Kenjaku, carries out a carefully planned operation. He succeeds in sealing Satoru Gojo, leaving humanity without its greatest protector.
Amidst the chaos that ensues, key characters perish, Sukuna temporarily possesses Yuji's body, causing widespread destruction, and the Magic Department declares Yuji an enemy, issuing a death sentence once again.
Gojo is deemed an accomplice in the incident, expelled from the ranks of sorcerers, and forbidden to be released from the seal.
